Setting up the Power-Pole Charge for Lithium Batteries

The Power-Pole Charge is the most advanced Marine Power Management Station available and works with ALL battery types including AGM, Gel, Lead Acid, TPPL and High Performance Lithium.

When it comes to Lithium batteries there are different configurations. The Power-Pole Charge works with several different lithium battery configurations, including: a single 24 or 36-volt lithium battery as well as 2 or 3 12-volt batteries wired in series.

Single 24 or 36-Volt Lithium Battery

A single 24 or 36-volt lithium battery works BEST with the Power-Pole Charge.

  • FASTEST charging time
  • LIGHTEST weight
  • Does not require individual battery balancing.
  • Does not require individual battery maintenance.
  • Reduces the amount of BMS boards and other
    electrical components in the boat.
  • Reduces the amount of interconnecting wires in the boat.
  • An additional/back up 24 or 36-volt battery can be added for more Amp Hours and longer run time.
  • Individual selector switch preferred. (Not in parallel)
  • Separate 12-volt lithium charger needed to maintain 2nd lithium battery.
  • Best configuration for tournament anglers and heavy trolling motor users with limited charging time between events or multiple days on the water.

Individual 12-Volt Lithium Batteries in Series

Individual 12-volt lithium batteries wired in series work with the Power-Pole Charge but require longer charging, balancing and maintenance time.

  • Takes longer to charge 3 individual batteries.
  • Takes longer to balance 3 individual batteries.
  • Severely out of balance batteries may take 5-8 days to get back into balance.
  • Anglers may need to individually charge and maintain an out of balance battery using a separate 12-volt lithium battery charger.
  • Good for the everyday angler who has plenty of time between fishing trips for a good charge.

NOTE: For optimized performance, be sure to download the Power-Pole app and set up your battery chemistry, configuration and Amp hours before use. Remember, the Charge will not effectively manage lithium batteries if they are not programmed in the app.

Power-Pole Charge And Engine Battery Information

Check with your engine manufacturer’s recommendation for minimum cranking amps and battery chemistry when choosing an Engine Battery.

Charge will maintain additional 12v batteries on the engine side. This means increased battery capacity for running accessories such as:

  • MFD Screens
  • 12-volt transducers
  • Livewell pumps
  • LED lights, console lights, running lights, etc.
  • Stereos with amplifiers
  • Refer to Power-Pole Charge wiring guide for best battery configuration based on your set up.
    • 2 - 12-volt batteries in parallel (Double Capacity)
    • 2 - 12-volt batteries tied together with a battery 1-2-ALL-OFF switch (Individual battery set up)

The Power-Pole Charge is designed to work with all battery types.

  • Lead Acid, AGM, TPPL, Gel and Lithium

The engine battery can be a different chemistry and/or amp hour rating than the trolling motor battery(s).

  • Be sure to set up each battery type & size with the Power-Pole App before use.

Lithium Cranking Battery Notice

The Power-Pole Charge will charge & maintain a Lithium cranking battery but if the Lithium battery turns off or goes to sleep you will lose the Emergency Power Transfer feature built into the Charge.
